Communities

Communities are not at the center of all the initiatives carried out by the Perene Institute.

Forest preservation is effective when the strong roots of the communities that reside in them and are intertwined with the roots of these forests are treated as an integral part of the conservation process. 

Instituto Perene's projects begin with a partnership with local leaders, who are brought into planning from the beginning. In the activities, the entire community is invited to get involved and be empowered by the actions taken. Perene seeks to awaken a sense of belonging to native ecosystems.
