Eco-efficient Stoves in the Recôncavo Baiano

A partnership with Natura and Moody’s Foundation, which resulted in the first eco-efficient stoves built in the Recôncavo Baiano.

In 2007, when Instituto Perene was founded, with the objective of taking eco-efficient stoves to the Recôncavo Baiano, Natura, through the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Neutralization Program, was the first company to believe that these stoves could part of that purpose.

The technology, still little known in Brazil, came from a similar project developed by the founder of the Instituto Perene in Nicaragua and Honduras. A work that was developed in partnership with the NGO, Climate Care, from the United Kingdom, to scientifically certify the impacts of the eco-efficient stove in the reduction of greenhouse gases.

The work with Natura earned Perene its first three certifications from The Gold Standard International. In 2019, the socio-environmental potential of the project brought a new partners, the Moodys`s Foundation, which contributed to the expansion of the Efficient Stoves in the Recôncavo Baiano. The partnership with the two institutions, which continues to this day, has already resulted in around 13,000 stoves delivered to the region.
